In English: Since, because, As a result of...

Used to express the reason or cause for the speaker's action. Note that '-길래' is the conversational, spoken version of -기에.

• 날씨가 따뜻하기에 산책을 했다.

  날씨가 따뜨타기에 산채글 핻따.said like thisnalssiga ttatteutagie sanchaegeul haetda.

  Since the weather was warm, I went for a walk.

• 사람들이 너무 많기에 다른 곳에 갔다.

  사람드리 너무 만키에 다른 고세 갇따.said like thissaramdeuri neomu mankie dareun gose gatda.

  Because there were too many people, I went to a different place.

Conditions for

In English: for, to, too X to Y, not enough X to Y

The preceding clause expresses an often hypothetical situation, and the subsequent clause expresses a judgment related to the situation. Depending on whether the judgment is positive or negative, conditions for the situation can be either great or lacking. Often used with 는.

• 바다 가기에는 날씨가 딱 좋아요.

  바다 가기에는 날씨가 딱 조아요.said like thisbada gagieneun nalssiga ttak joayo.

  The weather is just right for going to the beach.

• 케이크 먹기엔 너무 배불러.

  케이크 먹끼엔 너무 배불러.said like thiskeikeu meokgien neomu baebulleo.

  I'm too full to eat cake.

• 그 게임 하기엔 인원이 부족해. 8인부터잖아.

  We don't have enough people to play that game. It's for 8 or more players.

Point of view

In English: think, feel

Used with verbs like 보다, 느끼다, and 생각하다 at the start of a sentence to express one's point of view, or to ask another's point of view. Often used with 는.

• 너가 보기엔 어때?

  What do you think about it?

• 제가 보기에는 아주 능력 있는 분이에요.

  제가 보기에는 아주 능녁 인는 부니에요.said like thisjega bogieneun aju neungnyeok inneun bunieyo.

  I think she's very capable.

• 제가 느끼기에는 그 책은 초등학생이 읽기에는 적절하지 않아요.

  제가 느끼기에는 그 채근 초등학쌩이 익끼에는 적쩔하지 아나요.said like thisjega neukkigieneun geu chaegeun chodeunghaksaengi ikgieneun jeokjeolhaji anayo.

  I feel that that book is not appropriate for elementary schoolers to read.
